I wanted to settle an argument with my buddy about which player had been hotter lately – Voy or Pel. So I grabbed my laptop around 7 PM after dinner and started digging into their recent stats myself.
Finding The Raw Numbers
First thing, I hit up a couple free sports stats sites. Took me a solid 45 minutes just copying numbers into my messy spreadsheet. Tracked their last 10 games for goals, assists, shots on target, and pass accuracy. My cat kept jumping on the keyboard like it was helping.
Here’s what I almost spilled coffee on:
- Voy’s goals dried up after game 5 – goose eggs for 3 straight matches
- Pel’s assists suddenly popped off last week with 4 in two games
- Both totally bombed during that rainy match against Tigers FC
Spreadsheet Wrestling
Colored cells like a maniac – red for bad, green for good. Divided everything by games played cause Pel missed two matches. My laptop fan started screaming when I added the charts. Seriously thought the thing would melt.
Almost gave up when I realized:
- Voy takes way more shots but hits the post constantly
- Pel’s passes connect better when he’s mad – got carded twice then completed 92%
The Final Showdown
Added weights cause goals matter more than passes right? Made goals worth double. Pel still beat Voy by 15 overall points recently. Even when I nerfed Pel’s penalty kick stats, he came out ahead. My buddy owes me a beer now.
Wildest thing? Both crashed HARD against low-ranked teams. Like they partied too hard before those games or something. Anyway I’m done arguing about football stats until next weekend.
