First thing I did:

Started noticing patterns everyone avoids saying. TNPL? They want people who don’t cry when problems hit. People who see conflict and think “dinner time”. People who write emails that don’t make everyone yawn. Leadership? Forget titles. Means not running away when your plan explodes.

Few months back, applied for a role managing teams across borders. Thought my CV was gold, honestly. Ghosted hard. Why? Didn’t shout about fixing arguments between suppliers over shipping delays – just listed “managed vendors.” Didn’t mention rebuilding schedules after typhoons wrecked deliveries – said “coordinated logistics.” Got a buddy inside later – hiring team trashed my app for “zero proof handling mess.” Ouch. Lesson? They want the blood and tears stories. They want to know you won’t panic when the job punches you in the teeth daily.
After my homework and coffee crash:
- Rewrote every bullet point on my resume. Killed “helped with communication” – wrote “knocked heads together in 15+ village meetings until deals got signed.” Numbers suck but gotta show scale.

- Practiced explaining disasters without sweating. Stumbled explaining that time local partners almost quit mid-project. Practiced framing it: “Identified rising tensions through casual gossip (yeah, gossip), organized emergency meeting, swapped roles, project finished only two weeks late.” Truth – not fancy.
Job market punches you daily. But TNPL careers? They’re hunting folks who handle pressure without leaking tears, talk like humans without putting everyone to sleep, and fix broken situations without needing applause. No magic. Just proof you’ve wrestled real chaos and lived.
