Is PUBG cross platform for PC or mobile? Know which devices are supported!

Okay so here’s the thing, I play PUBG sometimes with my buddies. Last weekend we were trying to squad up, right? Problem was, Mike was on his shiny new gaming PC, Sarah was on her iPhone, Tom was glued to his iPad, and me? I was dusting off my old Android phone. Naturally, someone shouts, “Yo, does this even work? Can we all play together?” Honestly? I kinda mumbled, “Uh… maybe?” Not a great look. So I figured, screw it, gotta test this cross-platform mess myself. No more guessing.

Starting Simple: PC to Mobile?

First step was obvious. Booted up PUBG on my PC. Gotta love that crisp graphics and smooth framerate. Took a minute. Launched the game, navigated to the main lobby. Started poking around the menus, specifically looking for anything labeled “Cross-Platform Play” or maybe “Match Settings”. Went into Settings, checked the Basic tabs, the Gameplay tabs… nada. Nothing obvious screaming “Play with Mobile!”.

Alright, fine. Maybe it automatically just… works? How would I even test this? Logged in with my account. Then, grabbed my ancient Android phone. Seriously, this thing struggles sometimes. Opened PUBG Mobile. Important detail: PUBG on PC is called just “PUBG: Battlegrounds” usually, while my phone has “PUBG MOBILE”. Different names already? Felt like a bad sign. Signed in on my phone using the exact same account. Went into Duo mode, started searching for a match. Hoped maybe some PC players would magically pop in. Got wrecked by a bunch of clearly mobile players controlling guns with thumbs. No sign of Mike-the-PC-God anywhere. Hmm. Tried again in Squad mode – same deal. Fast mobile action, no keyboard warriors in sight. Conclusion forming: PC and Mobile versions seem to live on totally different planets.

Alright, What About Phones and Tablets?

Okay, PC to mobile seems bust. But Sarah and Tom? iPhone and iPad? That has to work, right? Common sense says yes, but hey, gotta check. Switched to Tom’s iPad. Opened PUBG MOBILE (yeah, same name on both devices). Logged him in. Sarah grabbed her iPhone, same deal. We all entered the lobby together. Now this felt familiar. Created a squad, hit “Invite”. Could easily find each other – Sarah on her iPhone, Tom on his iPad – in the friends list. Sent invites. Bam! Both joined the squad lobby instantly, no fuss. Queued for a Classic Erangel match. Dropped in, drove around in a buggy getting shot at… all good. Perfectly seamless. Big sigh of relief there.

Just for completeness, I fired up my Android again. Could I join their squad? Yep. Invited my Android phone using Tom’s iPad. Accepted the invite on my phone, loaded into the same squad lobby. Three players: iPhone, iPad, Android. Started a match. Everything ran smooth like butter. The game didn’t care what flavor of mobile device we had. Apple, Samsung, tablet, phone… didn’t matter one bit. They’re all under the big “PUBG MOBILE” banner.

What About Console Gamers? Xbox or PlayStation?

Real quick side note. I don’t have a console myself, but my cousin plays on Xbox. Did a quick sanity check online, double-checking reliable gaming news sources. The consensus? Nope. Console players (PlayStation, Xbox) have their own thing going on. They can sometimes play together if the game allows cross-play between consoles, but they absolutely do not get thrown into matches with PC players or Mobile players. Separate worlds again. Just the PC players playing against other PC players, mobile against mobile, consoles with consoles (or sometimes mixed consoles).

So, What’s the Deal? Final Device Breakdown

Here’s the super simple takeaway from my little testing session:

  • PUBG on PC: Can only play with other PC players.
  • PUBG MOBILE (on any device!):
    • iPhones, iPads, Android Phones, Android Tablets can all play together.
    • That’s anyone playing “PUBG MOBILE”, regardless of the manufacturer or screen size.
  • PUBG on Console (Xbox, PlayStation): Sticks to their own kind, no PC, no Mobile. Sometimes plays together across Xbox and PlayStation though.

Mystery solved! Told Mike he’s stuck with his keyboard comrades for PC games. Me, Sarah, and Tom can squad up anytime on our mobile devices – phone or tablet makes zero difference. Pretty straightforward once you actually test it yourself, no more guesswork next time the squad asks!
