Why I Checked IPL Ball Prices
Got curious after seeing fans arguing online about whether official IPL cricket balls cost too much. Thought: “Why guess when I can track actual prices myself?” Grabbed my laptop to dig into this properly.
Setting Up My Tracking
Started simple – went straight to the official IPL online store everybody uses. Didn’t trust random sites or third-party sellers. Made sure I was signed in so the website wouldn’t show me different prices than regular folks see.
Did this every Monday morning for two months straight. Wrote each price down in a beat-up notebook like this:
- April 1: ₹5,999
- April 8: ₹6,250
- April 15: SOLD OUT (no price shown)
Hitting Roadblocks
Annoying when the ball just vanished from the site for two weeks! Thought they stopped selling it. Turned out they actually released a special “player edition” during playoffs. That version was ₹7,800 – way pricier! Felt like they were hiding the regular ball to push expensive stuff.
What The Numbers Showed
Tallying everything up:
- Cheapest price seen: ₹5,999 (early season)
- Most expensive: ₹7,800 (playoff hype version)
- Regular balls averaged around ₹6,400 when actually available
Biggest shock? The price changed 4 times in 60 days. Never stayed same for more than 3 weeks.
Final Reality Check
Took my notebook to local sports shop. Owner laughed when I asked about official balls. Showed me similar quality unbranded balls at ₹3,200. Told me: “IPL stitching same factory, different stamp.”
So yeah – if anybody asks if IPL ball prices change? Tell ’em I watched it bounce around like a yorker gone wild. Official store pricing feels totally made up sometimes. Pretty sure they charge extra just for that little logo sticker.
