My EPL Map Headache
So yesterday I decided to make cool visual maps showing where all 20 Premier League teams are located across England. Figured it’d be handy for fans and content stuff. I started doing it the old way – opening one map website, searching for Manchester United’s stadium, taking a screenshot, then repeating for Manchester City… god, this was taking forever. After wasting 30 minutes, I’d barely done three clubs. Coffee was already cold and I was zoning out clicking around like a zombie. Needed a smarter fix.
The Lightbulb Moment
Remembered this mapping tool I used ages ago for plotting coffee shops. Dug through my messy bookmarks folder and found it. The magic feature? Batch uploads! Grabbed a spreadsheet template from the site’s help section. Just needed team names and stadium addresses. Copy-pasted Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium details first – “Hornsey Rd, London N7 7AJ”. Then Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge. Filled rows while half-watching a rerun of last night’s match. Took maybe 10 minutes to get all 20 teams in.
Magic Happened
Uploaded that CSV file into the mapping tool. Clicked “generate map” and held my breath. Boom! All 20 club locations popped up instantly as little football icons. London clubs clustered together up top, Newcastle way up north isolated – perfect. Customized colors: red for Manchester United, light blue for City. Tinkered with zoom levels until the whole league fit on one screen. Final step? Hit export and chose PNG format. Watched that progress bar fill while finishing my coffee.
Why This Rocks
Whole process took maybe 45 minutes start to finish – including my coffee break! Best part? Saved that CSV template. Next season when promoted teams change, just swap out three rows of data instead of redoing everything. Did similar maps for Championship clubs today in under 30 minutes. Pro tip: always check if your tools support bulk uploads before manually repeating tasks. Game changer.
