Okay, so the other day, I really wanted a Delhi Capitals jersey, right? Not just any one, but a custom one with my own little twist. Couldn’t find exactly what I pictured online, so I figured, why not try making it myself? Big mistake? Almost.
Starting Point: The Messy Idea Phase
First, I dug around my closet for an old plain blue t-shirt – figured it saved buying base fabric. Took a photo of the real Delhi Capitals logo on my phone screen, held it against the shirt. Looked… crooked and tiny. Way off. Tried sketching it freehand on paper with a black marker, just to get the feel. Ended up looking like a drunk crab drew it, no joke.
Cutting Corners (Literally)
Gave up on freehand fast. Found a tutorial telling me to print the logo, trace onto iron-on vinyl. Okay, cool. Printed it at home – ink smudged halfway through. Restarted, used scissors to cut the design out carefully. Stabbed my finger trimming around “Capitals.” Blood on the paper. Great start. Peeled the vinyl backing off – sticky nightmare. It ripped near the lion’s face. Almost screamed.
The “Fix It” Wrestling Match
Iron time. Set it hot, slapped the vinyl onto the shirt, pressed down hard with the iron. Smelled burning plastic instantly. Panic-lifted the iron: logo stuck, but patches bubbled up where I pressed unevenly. Used a pencil eraser to rub the bubbles out – worked kinda, but the vinyl looked stressed and wrinkly. Decided to stitch the edges with red thread by hand for reinforcement.
Thread problems:
- Knot kept coming undone.
- Poked myself again.
- Ran out of thread halfway.
Dug out another spool that was “close enough” red. Finished stitching, looking like a wobbly kid did it.
Adding My “Flair” (The Disaster)
Wanted “BELIEVER” on the back like some players have. Cut letters from white fabric paint. Brushed paint – too thick, bled under the stencil. “B” looked like a blob. “E” was lopsided. Wiped it off fast with a wet rag, left a ghost stain. Ended up using a white fabric marker freehand. Letters are shaky, spacing’s wonky. Looks homemade? Absolutely.
Final Result? Questionable
Held it up. Logo’s got wrinkles and a slightly melted look. Stitches are obvious. “BELIEVER” screams “I TRIED.” Threw it in the wash nervously. Survived – colors held, but the vinyl’s even more obviously bumpy now. Wore it yesterday. Felt proud I made it? Sure. Does it look store-bought? Nah. Next time, maybe I’ll just pay the damn money.
