Today I woke up dying to watch Pakistan champions cup cricket but stuck at work. So I started hunting how to track live scores ball by ball without watching streams. First thing I tried was official cricket apps. Big mistake.
The Messy App Search
Grabbed my phone and installed three different score apps claiming real-time updates. Opened the first one – shoved ads in my face before showing scores. Second app kept crashing after showing yesterday’s match. Third one… well it let me see scores but only overs, not ball by ball. Felt like hitting a wall. Deleted all three faster than Shaheen Afridi’s yorker.
Browser Tab Disaster
Opened Chrome on my laptop like a fool. Searched “live Pakistan T20 scores today”. Got flooded with gambling sites and news articles from last week’s matches. Clicked six different websites wasting ten minutes:
- One had pop-up ads every two seconds
- Another showed wrong team names
- Third had “live” data delayed by five overs
Closed everything feeling mad. Keyboard almost flew through the window.
Twitter Hail Mary
Remembered seeing cricket updates on Twitter last month. Searched hashtags like #PAKvLAH or #T20Champions. Saw people talking about the match but nothing useful. Just fans screaming “BABAR AZAM KING!” or crying over dropped catches. Found two accounts claiming live coverage. Turned out:
- One posted only boundary sixes
- Other tweeted twice per inning
Smoked my last cigarette in frustration.
The Simple Fix
Finally texted my cricket crazy cousin in Karachi. He laughed saying “you still using nonsense apps?”. Told me his method:
1. Opened phone notification settings
2. Turned on breaking news alerts for sport channels
3. Downloaded one specific lightweight app he named
Got live ball-by-ball push notifications immediately. Saw Wahab Riaz take a wicket on notification while drinking tea. Perfect – no streams, no browser tabs, no nonsense. Setup took three minutes and now I get vibration updates for every run. Got 23 alerts already while typing this.
Moral? Sometimes asking old school people beats tech hunting. Back to work while Quetta Gladiators chase targets in my pocket.
