Alright folks, been wanting to share this for a while. I’m totally into sports analytics and noticed everyone debating PRB vs PRS players. Figured I’d cut through the noise with some cold hard numbers.
So last Tuesday I grabbed a big ol’ pile of stats from a site I use all the time. Pulled down everything from this season – took like three cups of coffee just to download and unzip all those CSV files. My spreadsheet nearly crashed loading it all, honest.
First things first: had to clean this mess up. Found like twelve different ways people spelled “steals” across these datasets. Seriously, some wrote “defense steals”, others “ball steals”, some just “stls”. Spent a whole afternoon just making column names match. Used my go-to trick: highlight duplicate entries yellow so they scream at me.
Now here’s where the fun started – picking what actually matters. After playing around, I landed on three big ones:
- Per-minute impact (points+assists divided by minutes played)
- Clutch rating (scoring in last 5 minutes)
- Turnover nightmare score (bad passes multiplied by dribble fails)
Built formulas in my sheet while watching the game replay. Messed up the parentheses like five times – kept showing errors where players looked like superheroes. Finally got it working around midnight. Saved that file as “FINAL FINAL DONT DELETE” like we all do.
Generated comparison tables that looked like alphabet soup at first. Spent Thursday morning tweaking the sorting so it showed top 10 performers from each team side-by-side. Color-coded the hell out of it too – green for good, red for ouch.
Almost choked on my sandwich when I saw the results. PRS players destroyed in clutch situations but had way uglier turnover stats. PRB’s mid-tier players actually outscored PRS starters on per-minute impact. Saved the key screenshots for Twitter because nobody believes you without pictures.
Finished up Friday night drinking root beer straight from the bottle while typing observations. The biggest shocker? That superstar everyone talks about? Total middle-of-the-pack across all three metrics. But this role player? Absolute monster in clutch moments – dude’s carrying them without anyone noticing.
