How to Make a Map of English Premier League Teams Quickly (Simple Steps Guide)

Okay folks, remember wanting that clear map showing all the Premier League teams? Here’s exactly how I managed to knock one out quicker than I thought, start to finish.

The Starting Point: Feeling Lost

Honestly, I first sat down staring at a blank screen feeling a bit stuck. I knew I needed a map showing where all 20 teams play, but making one from scratch sounded like a chore. I figured there had to be a simpler way than drawing everything.

Step 1: Just Look at England First

My browser was already open, so I went over to Google Maps. I just typed “England map” into the search bar. Easy. A clear outline of England popped up right there on my screen. First thing sorted, foundation laid.

Step 2: Getting Those Team Cities Pinpointed

Next hurdle: knowing where exactly each city was. Didn’t want to guess! I kept my map open and opened a new tab. Went straight to the Premier League’s official site. They list all the teams, right? Scrolled down and found the standings table. Bingo! Next to each team name, it clearly says their city: London, Manchester, Liverpool, all that good stuff. Wrote down all 20 cities on a scrap of paper to keep track.

Step 3: Hunting Down Stadia on the Map

Back to my Google Maps tab. Started typing the stadium names one by one – like “Old Trafford” or “Emirates Stadium” – just like that. The map zoomed right in and plopped a marker on each one. Did this for every single club stadium from my list, zooming in and out as needed. Watched the map fill up with markers all over England. Took maybe 10 minutes? Was pretty satisfying seeing them all appear.

Step 4: Making it Actually Look Like a Map

Okay, markers were there, but it still looked messy. I wanted a clean picture. Saw the options near the search bar and clicked that “print map” thing. It gave me a preview without all the extra Google Maps junk – just the map, the country outline, and my dots. Perfect base! Clicked save as PDF onto my desktop.

Step 5: Sprucing it Up

Opened up a simple drawing program – just used whatever free one I had installed. Imported that PDF map. Now the fun part:

  • Circles are friends: Grabbed the circle tool. Made little circles around each dot. Changed the fill color so they’d stand out.
  • Names matter: Clicked the text tool. Typed each team’s name right next to its circle. Started with a small font size, but it was way too tiny! Cranked it up to something readable.
  • A Bit of Flair: Decided the map background was too dark. Found the color picker thing and made the background a lighter grey so the circles popped more. Almost forgot to add “Premier League 2023/24” at the top! Added that in a slightly bigger font.

The Grand Finale (and Where I Messed Up)

Finally clicked “Save As“. Was feeling smug until… the file saved huge! Completely forgot to check the size. Had to go back, found the export settings, and scaled it down to a sensible size – 800 pixels wide worked fine. Saved it again as a JPG this time. Done!

Overall? Honestly surprised at how easy it was once I just started doing it step-by-step. The hardest part was remembering to save the map PDF first instead of trying to screenshot the messy Google Maps view! Learning point for next time. Hope this helps if you ever need a quick club map!
